2007

Lyon International Campus

Launched in 1995, this wayfinding and territorial identity project was completed in 2007 with the opening of the Amphitheater, which serves as an extension of the Convention Center. The wayfinding furniture developed for the entire Cité Internationale site is directly derived from the wayfinding system established by Intégral for the city of Lyon and its metropolitan area. It consists of a framework system—a sort of functional constant—that integrates independent information panels. It is the graphic treatments that distinguish each entity within the area (residences, offices, shops, restaurants, hotels, parking lots, Amphitheater, Convention Center, Museum of Contemporary Art, multiplex cinema, etc.). The graphic approach is structured around variable background patterns specific to each entity. While the proposal became more complex as new occupants arrived, the principle based on different graphic patterns remained a constant. The visual language developed aims to strongly distinguish the various users so that they can integrate their own mode of identification into the shared system. Maps, street numbers, and other cross-cutting information—both permanent and temporary—reinforce the system. The strong integration of information media into the architecture gives the whole its coherence. Design
