Architects national association
The purpose of the consultation was to create a logo to identify the Order of Architects, a private-law entity entrusted with public service missions. As a legal entity with financial autonomy, it operates under the supervision of the Minister of Culture. Registration with the Order of Architects confers the right to practice the profession and to use the title of architect.
Our work was based on elements specific to architecture, its tools, and its history. Horizontal lines from the Doric order, golden surfaces, and other geometric forms derived from the golden ratio and the square are all elements that strongly represent the mastery of the architectural profession. We built the logo based on these geometric representations. It uses the initials of the organization’s name as its foundation to create a geometric composition within two squares. The logo thus consists of the acronym “OA” accompanied by the full title “Ordre des architectes.” There are three possible forms and three combinations of the title’s dimensions relative to “OA,” resulting in three logos that meet all visibility and legibility requirements across various applications. The image of the acronym is greatly simplified and becomes “the logo.” This simplification allows for use in very small sizes and in three dimensions. All elements are compiled into a graphic style guide featuring examples of logo usage, along with several templates and form templates, granting the Order of Architects complete autonomy.
