European Quarter in Brussels
Europe in the Neighborhood, Neighborhoods of Europe: this temporary exhibition in public spaces aims to offer a fresh perspective on the European Quarter during the presidency. A typographic installation unfolds along an urban route comprising ten stations. Each station explores a specific theme and is structured around questions, quotes, reflections, and both contemporary and historical images. Speaking directly and simultaneously to tourists, to the various nationalities present, and to all Brussels residents. Rather than creating a medium repeated identically, a visual language that is easily identifiable and adapts to diverse urban situations and issues has been developed. A graphic surface built around a narrative in four languages (French, Dutch, English, and German) takes on shapes and volumes depending on its surroundings and acts as a dotted line along the urban route. Printed tarps are stretched around columns made of stacked concrete sewer pipes. The colors are festive, the languages complementary, and the tone is light and poetic.
