Exhibition design and graphics — Bordeaux Public Library

Dedicated to Michel de Montaigne’s *Essays*, whose Bordeaux manuscript is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Station Montaigne is an interpretive space centered on the writer’s work. The Bordeaux Library hosts this curated exhibition, which features illustrations, writings, display cases, a digital page-turning station, and an interactive touchscreen wall.

The overall spirit of this project lies in representing everything that makes Montaigne’s thought contemporary, still perfectly rooted in our time. Through a wall of quotations (named Rencontres), interactive games, and illustrated scenes, visitors can appreciate how much this author continues to challenge us to reflect on our society.

It is his handwritten annotations that distinguish his Bordeaux Exemplary; great importance has therefore been given to typography through a printed tapestry as well as digital installations. They are present, utilized, and explained in projected and tactile forms, thus also bearing witness to a vibrant and necessary reinterpretation of the writing advocated by the author of the Essays.
