2014–2015
International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures, UNESCO, Paris
This is an interactive and evolving exhibition. It explores themes related to the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013–2022). The first five panels will be unveiled at the exhibition’s opening on December 10, 2014, at UNESCO, to mark Human Rights Day. + ∞ not only reflects the need to come together around a common project, but also aims to reveal the immense potential of initiatives such as the Decade and to bring people from different cultures closer together. The goal is to encourage reflection on crucial contemporary issues and to foster various avenues for dialogue and respect at all levels. The + ∞ exhibition illustrates the vast possibilities that arise when cultures meet and interact. The International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013–2022) is a call for everyone to take responsibility, including for this creative initiative. Inaugurated on December 10, 2014, Human Rights Day, + ∞ presents a set of the first five panels developed by Ruedi Baur: “Migrants,” “African Women and the Culture of Peace,” “Money,” “Maps,” and “Inspiration.” Future panels will address other fundamental issues in a process of continuous enrichment, like a living work of art. Each panel in the exhibition (4.00 m long * 1.75 m wide) consists of approximately 50 strips illustrating the chosen theme (photos, maps, banknotes, etc.), helping to conceptualize the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures. Each panel is a unique creation.
